The Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) seeks to hire a capable, experienced individual with excellent program management skills relevant to the Resource Governance Index project. The successful candidate will play a key coordination role in the design, delivery and execution of the Resource Governance Index 2015. In addition to key project management duties the role will also involve contributions to the methodology design as well as overseeing the data collection process and peer review on a day to day basis.

The Resource Governance Index (RGI) assesses the quality of oil, gas and mining sector governance in a wide selection of resource rich countries. The 2013 edition assessed 58 countries which together produce 80 percent of the world’s petroleum, 90 percent of diamonds and 80 percent of copper. For each country, researchers collected primary data about three components of governance (the Legal and Institutional Setting, Reporting Practices, and Safeguards and Quality Controls) and used secondary data about a fourth component (the broader Enabling Environment). A full description of the 2013 RGI findings, methodology and country results are available at

As detailed below, the Program Officer would coordinate the production of the RGI, and would contribute to promotion and impact of the RGI as a flagship product of the organization. The individual would join the Data and Analysis Team, and form part of the RGI project team led by the Senior Researcher. The role may allow opportunity to contribute to other projects. The position can be based in London or New York.
